Malkin Named NHL's Top Star Of The Week
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin was named the NHL's No. 1 star for last week.
He scored five goals and added four assists to total nine points in four games.
The Penguins went 3-1 last week, ending with Sunday's 5-2 win that got the team to the 100-point mark in the standings. Pittsburgh is just one point behind the New York Rangers for first place in the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference.
Much credit for the Penguins success goes to Malkin, as he's leading the league with 97 points.
Buffalo goaltender Ryan Miller was named the No. 2 star of the week and Washington winger Alex Ovechkin earned the No. 3 star.
