Malkin Named NHL's No. 1 Star Of The Week

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin was named the NHL's No. 1 Star of the Week Monday.

Malkin scored the Penguins only goal and a shootout goal against Carolina Tuesday in a 2-1 win. He scored two more goals in a 4-1 win at the New York Rangers Thursday, and followed that up with the game-tying goal and shootout winner against Montreal Friday.

Malkin ended his week Sunday afternoon with two assists and the game-winner in overtime in a 4-3 win against Washington.

Malkin leads the league in scoring with 58 points and his 26 goals are third in the league, tied with teammate James Neal. He has nine goals in the last six games.
