Malkin, Letang Selected For NHL All-Star Game
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Two members of the Pittsburgh Penguins have been selected to participate in this year's NHL All-Star Game.
According to the Penguins' official website, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang will be making the trip to Nashville for the festivities.
This will be the sixth time that Malkin has been named to an All-Star team. However, injuries forced him to miss the event last year and in 2011.
Letang will be making his third appearance.
Malkin leads the team in points (37) and goals (18), while Letang has four goals and 20 assists.
The format for this year's All-Star Game is a little different. It will feature three, 20-minute games of three-on-three hockey.
But, players will be representing their division this time. As a result, Malkin and Letang will skate for the Metropolitan Division team, who will square off against the Atlantic Division All-Stars. The winner will advance to the finals to take on the Western Conference representative.
The Skills Competition will take place on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m., with the All-Star Tournament following on Sunday, Jan. 31.
