Malkin Joins Crosby In Missing All-Star Game
PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) —Earlier this week, the Pittsburgh Penguins announced that Sidney Crosby would not be attending the NHL All-Star Game. Now, Evgeni Malkin is also being held out of the festivities.
On Tuesday, head coach Dan Bylsma announced that Malkin will miss the NHL All-Star Game with a sinus infection. He is also dealing with a knee injury.
Crosby will not attend the All-Star festivities this weekend to focus on recovering from a concussion.
"Symptoms from the sinus infection and pressure in Malkin's head are preventing him from going on the ice right now," Bylsma said.
Crosby was the leading vote-getter for the All-Star Game with 635,509 votes. Malkin ranked third in votes with 376,887.
The three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender with the most votes were automatically selected to the All-Star Game.
The full NHL All-Star roster will be filled when the league hosts its first All-Star Draft at the RBC Center in Raleigh, N.C. The draft can be seen on VERSUS at 8 p.m. on Friday.
Kris Letang and Marc-Andre Fleury will be representing the Penguins in the All-Star Game.
