Lower McArdle Bridge To Reopen Today

SOUTH SIDE (KDKA) - A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Wednesday afternoon to signal the reopening for the newly rehabbed Lower McArdle Bridge.

The bridge was shut down in January of 2011 due to the road deck and support steel deteriorating after years of bad weather, salt and heavy traffic.

The project cost about $10 million, but with the bridge reopening, the South Side will be reconnected with Mount Washington and the Liberty Bridge once again.

The ribbon cutting ceremony is set to begin at 1:30 p.m.

Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl and other officials are expected to attend the ceremony.
