Locals Hoping To Cash In On Mega Millions Jackpot
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Mega Millions jackpot will top $400 million this Friday.
That's the second highest total ever.
Carol Spehar, owner of Marshall's service station on Spring Garden Road, says it's been busy all day.
"It'll probably get even heavier on Friday when they have the drawing," she says. "Some of them don't like to buy the ticket before. They like to buy it on the day of the drawing."
Marshall's recently had a $1 million winner from Spring Hill. Deneane Brown has plans for the ticket she bought Wednesday.
"Pay off some bills," she says. "Take a vacation, I think. I need it greatly -- and live comfortably."
Jim Eberz says he'd set something up for his family, and then, "Of course, in this weather, I'd go for a place in Florida for a couple months."
Lots of people play what they consider lucky numbers. Maybe their kids' birthdays, or the day they were married. But what most of the people did not seem to know: The number will be called on Friday the 13th.
But owner Carol Spehar isn't concerned.
"Thirteen's one of my lucky numbers," she says.
