Local Woman Pleads Guilty To Assaulting Dollar General From May 30
PITTSBURGH (AP) - A woman accused of hiding in a western Pennsylvania dollar store until it closed and then stabbing an employee during a robbery attempt has pleaded guilty to charges in the case.
Fifty-year-old Donna Turner pleaded guilty in Allegheny County to robbery, aggravated assault, criminal trespass and related charges. In exchange, prosecutors dropped charges of attempted homicide and burglary.
Authorities said Turner hid in a storage room until the Dollar General in Bellevue closed May 30 and charged the employees after they went to the manager's office to count the money. Officials said she was wrestled to the ground, but one person was stabbed in the forearm.
Police said Turner told them that she tried to rob the store because she needed rent money. She will be sentenced Jan. 21.
