Local Soldiers Come Home After Year In Kuwait

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Many local soldiers returned to see their families for the first time in more than a year Saturday.

Soldiers from the 316th Sustainment Command returned from Kuwait.

They landed around 8:30 a.m. at Atlantic Aviation. The soldiers were then taken to Moon Area High School, where they were greeted by a cheering crowd.

"I'm just glad to be home and see my family," Lt. Col. Shawn McNabb said after reuniting with his family. "It's been a long time and I just can't wait to get home, watch the Pens and just relax."

One woman got a special birthday gift, as she was reunited with her husband.

"Wait 'til he sees the decorations," Chris Sayre said as she held onto her husband, Lt. Col. Richard Sayre.

While in Kuwait, the soldiers worked to move equipment and soldiers in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The 316th ESC is made up of more than 8,500 soldiers along the East Coast.
