Local Priest Waives Preliminary Hearing
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A Catholic priest facing theft charges waived his right to a preliminary hearing in court today.
Father Francis Drabiska is accused of stealing more than $143,000 in cash collections from the Word of God Parish in Swissvale.
According to the criminal complaint, Father Drabiska signed a statement admitting he stole "between approximately $125,000 to $180,999 in loose cash" from the collection basket between 1999 through 2009.
Drabiska turned himself into authorities last week.
