Local Mother Upset By Facebook Page

WILKINSBURG (KDKA) – A local mother is distraught over another scandalous Facebook page. This one targets women, including her teenage daughter.

"When we were kids, rumors stayed in the school district, the neighborhood and who you hang with. This is around the world," said Minnie Wright, the mother of a 16-year-old girl.

Wright runs a store in Wilkinsburg and says customers have been telling her about what's been written.

"She said, 'Your daughter is on the Pittsburgh Smut' and I said, 'What?' That's the big subject around here – Miss Minnie's daughter is on the Pittsburgh Smuts," she said.

The page alleges certain women are promiscuous, but Wright says what it says about her daughter is a lie.

Earlier this week, in Beaver County, police announced there could be arrests concerning a similar Facebook page that included pictures of young women and descriptions of alleged sexual behavior.

Police say the original page was taken down, but a new one has been put up. Authorities are trying to find the creators of the page and say charges of harassment by communication or dissemination of obscene materials are possible.

As for the page that includes Wright's daughter, Minnie Wright hopes it's removed soon. In the meantime, she's prepared to take a big step next week to protect her daughter's reputation.

Her voice trembled with emotion when she said, "I'm going to change her name. I'm going to change my daughter's name. I am. I am. Because my daughter is not a slut. She's not. She's a good kid!"
