Local Marine Asks Actress On Date Via YouTube
GROVE CITY (KDKA) -- A local Marine is gaining national attention -- and quite possibly, a date with a celebrity, following an online appeal for the star to accompany him on a date.
Sgt. Scott Moore of Grove City invited "Friends with Benefits" star Mila Kunis to the Marine Corps Ball in November via a video posted on YouTube.
As of this afternoon, the clip uploaded by someone using the handle "GoWithMeMila" had been viewed more than 800,000 times.
Sgt. Moore's bold request even made its way to the actress during a recent interview promoting her new movie.
During the interview, Kunis' co-star, Justin Timberlake, teased that she should fulfill her patriotic duties and accompany Sgt. Moore to the dance.
Visibly surprised by the request, Kunis said she was going to make it happen.
It's not yet clear whether she will indeed accompany Sgt. Moore to the dance.
Sgt. Moore said the idea was kind of a bet between him and the guys in his platoon. None of them thought he would go through with it, but his former high school baseball coach is not surprised.
"Scotty is a great kid. I can see Scotty doing something like this. I am sure he had intentions of making it work, on the other hand just taking a shot at it. Hopefully it will work out for him," Pat Forese said.
Sgt. Moore is currently serving his country in Afghanistan. The Grove City High School graduate joined the Marines in 2007 and has served in Iraq.
This afternoon, Sgt. Moore's parents told KDKA-TV's Brenda Waters that they were surprised by their son's request, adding that they knew Kunis from her role on "That 70's Show."
"I am happy Scott is getting national attention of something fun unlike so many military men and women that have lost their lives," Diane Moore said.
