Local Funeral Home Plans Open House
PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) - Perman Funeral Home in Gibsonia is holding an open house this weekend. We're not talking about a real estate open house, but a chance to meet and greet funeral directors, casket dealers, cremation service experts, and lots more to help plan your funeral. You'll get a behind the scenes look at how the funeral process works, including seeing the embalming room.
Frank Perman, funeral director at Perman Funeral and Cremation Services, says it's all about informing the customer what they need to know to plan their funeral.
"Out in public, I get asked all the time, 'how much is this, how much for a burial?'," says Perman.
And when you go to the open house on Saturday, April 6, you'll see everything, including the preparation rooms.
KDKA-AM's Larry and John talk to Perman about what the open house is all about and how he's trying to end the mystery behind funeral homes. Perman says this will be a chance to find out all details of the funeral process from multiple vendors.
"There are things available now that weren't available 10-15 years ago," says Perman. "I have a gentleman who does white dove releases, and he's bringing his birds on Saturday."
Perman will also be talking about changes in funeral laws and how they will affect you. For instance, the law not allowing food on funeral home premises has been overturned.
"I've already had the visitation, the services and the luncheon all in the same building on the same day," says Perman. "It was wondferful. No one had to leave, no one had to go to this place or that place for lunch. It was all done here at the funeral home."
