Local Brothers Charged In Craigslist Scam

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Two brothers are accused of using Craigslist to dupe hundreds of people out of thousands of dollars.

Daniel and David Isabella live in Pittsburgh's Overbrook neighborhood.

Daniel claims he's not been charged with anything. He claims the grand jury indictment is not true.

He declined to talk on camera.

The brothers are accused of selling concert or sporting event tickets on Craigslist.

They are accused of having ticket buyers wire money to MoneyGram outlets. According to the grand jury indictment, the Isabellas took the money and had no tickets to sell.

The indictment accuses them of ripping off 250 purchasers for about $70,000.

The scheme was nationwide – Florida, Virginia, New York, Texas and Colorado.

The grand jury says people sent the Isabella brothers money and never got tickets.

They are accused of fraud, conspiracy and interstate commerce violations, but Daniel Isabella tells KDKA he can't believe he's been indicted because he's done nothing wrong.

If convicted, the Isabellas face dozens of years in prison and up to a million dollars in fines

They have a hearing at the federal courthouse downtown on July 9.
