Local Bar Owner Blames PWSA For Flood Damage That May Close His Business
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A South Side bar owner says he may lose his business over flood damage he blames on the on Pittsburgh's Water and Sewer Authority.
"It turned into a nightmare and no one wants to help, no one," says Jake Vogel.
Vogel, who owns the Jaggerbush on the city's South Side, took his problem to KDKA'S Marty Griffin and Get Marty.
Vogel says a Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority line broke in front of his business last January.
Thousands of gallons of water nearly destroyed his business.
"We have nearly $90,000 in damage and no one wants to take responsibility," says Vogel.
Turns out, PSWA already turned down Vogel's claim for damages and so did his insurance company.
Right now, the neighborhood bar, that's been on the South Side since 1904, is in danger of closing down.
"I have until the end of June and I'm done," says Vogel.
Our Marty Griffin reached out to attorney Gretchen Moore who calls Vogel's situation "difficult."
Moore, who is taking a look at the case for our Get Marty segment, is taking a look at the possible legal avenues Vogel may be able to take.
Meantime, since Get Marty got involved, the city has fixed a hole from the water that's been in front of the Jaggerbush since January.
Vogel, meanwhile, is trying to raise funds to keep his doors open at the GoFundMe.com under the name "Save the Jaggerbush."
