HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a loaded gun was found in the middle of a street in Beaver County.
The gun was spotted just after 9 a.m. at the corner of Yale Drive and Webb Street in Hopewell Township. Police say the two women who found it did exactly what they were supposed to do.
"The person that called it in remained with the gun until the officer arrived," said Hopewell Township Police Chief Brian Uhrmacher. "It was a 9mm, there was a holster located nearby…. It was not in the holster when it was found."

Police will not say how many bullets were in the gun, but are thankful no one was hurt.
Barbara and Larry Miller live up the street from where the weapon was found.
"We walk around here all hours of the night," said Barbara.
KDKA's Brenda Waters asked the Hopewell Township Police chief if he thought it could be an officer's weapon. He said he doesn't believe so, but can certainly understand everyone's concern since a school bus stop is located a few blocks away.
"I don't believe public transit passes through there, and I have checked with the school district…, there is not a school bus stop at that particular corner.… However, there are school bus stops in the general vicinity," Chief Uhrmacher said.
The chief says he is trying to track down the owner of the gun by using federal sites, but so far, there have been no hits.
