Liquor Store Employee Pistol Whipped By Robber
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a state liquor store was robbed, leaving an employee injured.
It happened around 9:30 a.m. at the Pa. Wine and Spirits store in on East 8th Avenue in Homestead, just after it had opened.
Video surveillance footage shows a man dressed in black pulling out a gun as soon as he walked inside. He then approached a clerk.
"Ordered the clerk into the back, made her open the safe," said Matt Fusco with the Homestead Police Department. "She was compliant with him. She was doing everything he asked -- he then had her come out to the front of the store, open one of the registers, he took some money out of the registers."
Police say he then forced her into the back of the store again and struck her on the side of the head with his handgun.
"Even though she was complying, doing everything he asked," Fusco said. "He still felt the need to assault her."
Police are hoping someone will recognize the robber and provide them with information leading to an arrest.
Police are also praising the clerk for being brave in the face of danger. She was admitted to the hospital with a head injury.
It's unclear how much money the suspect got away with.
No word on the suspect.
