Lightning Strikes Home In Beltzhoover
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Another round of severe weather moved across the area Thursday afternoon, packing a lot of rain and lightning.
In Beltzhoover, one family was forced from their home due to a lightning strike. It was just after 3 p.m. when thy had to evacuate.
According to the homeowner, she and her daughters were inside when lighting struck a power line that connects to her house.
The side of the home where the wire touches the siding started sparking, and she said she knew it had been hit.
So, she called 911 and they told her to get out of the house. They ran out through the basement and waited until the fire department came.
Firefighters checked the walls and breaker of the Chalfont Street house. They also used a heat thermometer.
The good news, everything checked out all right and the family is back in the home.
The lights only flickered twice and the power remained on while the power lines were sparking.
