Legursky, Hoke Could Miss Time
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Steelers coach Mike Tomlin's weekly press conference has become pretty predictable.
It's more like a weekly injury session, as Tomlin continued to address a slew of injuries Monday afternoon. The outlook has changed a bit.
Three key injuries occurred Sunday against Jacksonville: safety Troy Polamalu (concussion symptoms), nose tackle Chris Hoke (stinger) and guard Doug Legursky (toe).
Of them, two could miss significant time. Tomlin said Monday that Legursky will miss at least a few weeks with a dislocated toe.
"It didn't require surgery, but if you see him walking around, you'll see him walking around in a boot," Tomlin said, according to the Steelers official website. "He will be out for a number of weeks."
Either Trai Essex, who replaced Legursky Sunday, or Chris Kemoeatu will start in Legursky's place.
Hoke's stinger has limited his strength, and Tomlin said he won't be able to return until full strength returns. There is no timetable for his return.
On the positive end, Tomlin said Polamalu should be fine and is expected to play at Arizona Sunday at 4 p.m.
"Troy appears to be good to go," Tomlin said. "He did a concussion test, and he passed it. He met with our neurosurgeon, and he's very comfortable with where he is. We anticipate him practicing on Wednesday and moving on throughout the week along with everyone else on our football team."
Tomlin also said Marcus Gilbert (shoulder), Kemoeatu (knee) and Jason Worilds (quadriceps) could return to action this week.
Other injuries of note:
- Wide receiver Mike Wallace has "a minor hamstring" and it could limit him in practice this week.
- Casey Hampton, James Harrison and Aaron Smith are longshots to return to the lineup Sunday.
- Running back Mewelde Moore is "capable of working during this week," Tomlin said.
