Legacy Of Dr. King & Family Remembered
PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) - We remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy every year with the federal observance of his birthday, but did you know that he had a brother and a sister, and that his family had been preachers for generations?
In fact, Dr. Alveda King, MLK's niece, is herself a preacher, and still carries the torch of her famous family.
KDKA-AM's Larry and John talk to Dr. Alveda King about MLK's legacy and whether or not she believes that we have attained the future promised in the "I Have a Dream" speech.
"We're not quite there yet, and we don't realize that we are brothers and sisters genuinely, " says Dr. King. "But we're on the way."
Listen as Dr. Alveda King talks about her family, the beginning of the Civil Rights Movement, and how she continues the legacy today of the King Family.
