Leadership Summit Kicks Off Today
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The One Young World Summit, featuring leaders from around the world starts today in Pittsburgh.
About 1,500 delegates from nearly 200 countries will be in town for the conference.
The summit kicks off Thursday night with a welcome celebration on the Roberto Clemente Bridge. Drivers will not be able to use the bridge.
The event is expected to bring a lot of global attention to Pittsburgh. City leaders say the conference will lend a big boost to the local economy and business owners.
Many of the events will take place at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center and young leaders, many of whom are only in their '20s, will discuss and debate problems and solutions for worldwide issues.
Former US President, Bill Clinton, will host the opening ceremony by speaking at Heinz Hall at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
