Latest Round Of Snow Could Impact Afternoon Commute
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Our next round of wintry weather will arrive later today and could impact the afternoon commute.
Skies will increase with clouds as the day goes along with precipitation holding off until late afternoon or early evening.
With a high of 42 degrees, we may well see some rain or a rain/snow mix at the onset of things, but then a transition to snow will happen this evening.
KDKA-TV Meteorologist Dennis Bowman expects 3 to 5 inches to accumulate by Wednesday morning with less to the north and a little more to the south. The overnight low will be 30 degrees.
Tomorrow, we will see another inch or so of accumulation, giving the Pittsburgh area a total of 4 to 6 inches before the snow diminishes to flurries for the afternoon. Tomorrow's high will be 38 degrees.
Snow totals should be in the 1 to 3 inch range near Interstate 80, 2 to 4 in places like Beaver Falls, Butler, Kittanning and Indiana.
We could see up to 8 inches in the Morgantown area and a general 6 to 10 across Garrett, Preston and Tucker Counties.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. tonight to 4 p.m. tomorrow for the following counties in Pennsylvania: Armstrong, Beaver, Butler and Indiana.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 6 p.m. tonight until 5 p.m. Wednesday for the following counties in Pennsylvania: Allegheny, Greene, Somerset and Washington.
A Winter Storm Watch is also in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday for Cambria County.
In West Virginia, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 6 p.m. today until 7 p.m. Wednesday for the following counties: Brooke, Hancock, Marshall, Monongalia, Ohio and Preston.
Some of the higher ridges may get over a foot of snow.
Drivers should also allow lots of extra time for travel during the Wednesday morning commute.
