Latest Round Of Severe Weather Causes Problems Across Area
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Crews are cleaning up after another round of severe weather moved across the area early this morning.
The storms turned out power for hundreds of people and sent trees and utility poles crashing to the ground.
At the height of the storm, Allegheny Power reported more than 790 customers were without power. They were able to get that down to just 52 by 9 a.m.
KDKA's Jim Lokay reports that there were downed trees in several places following the storms:
- Route 19 in Zelienople
- Route 50 in South Fayette Township
- Route 8 and Kittanning Street near the busy Etna Bypass
- Crane Avenue in Pittsburgh near Brashear High School
Also, officials with PennDOT say there is a northbound lane restriction along Saxonburg Boulevard in West Deer at the intersection of Bakerstown Road in the aftermath of the storm. Crews have also closed Little Sewickley Road from Beaver Street to Sevin Road in Edgeworth/Bell Acres.
There was also damage in Beaver County because of downed trees and utility lines as well as debris on roadways.
According to PennDOT, several roads have been closed in the county:
- Dutch Ridge Road in Brighton from Yankee Court to Brighton Road
- Bocktown Cork Road in Independence from East Hookstown Grade Road to Potts Hollow Road
- Zeigler Road in New Sewickley from Glen Eden Road to Muntz/Willoughby Road
- OPENED: Lisbon Road in Ohioville from Old Blackhawk to Brady's Run Road
