West Busway Expected To Remain Closed
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Weather-related landslides continue to create problems all across the area and now one has closed a part of the West Busway.
According to the Port Authority, the slide happened early this morning between the busway's Sheraden and Ingram stations near the Berry Street Tunnel. The slide sent debris onto the roadway.
"So we have to shut down the busway immediately for about the next three days," Jim Ritchie, a Port Authority spokesman, said.
Crews are using heavy equipment to cut back the hillside and assess the damage.
About 10,000 riders use the busway each weekday. Officials with the Port Authority say normal service is expected to resume by Monday morning.
"So it's going to be somewhat of an inconvenience," Ritchie said. "There's going to be some slight delays through that area."
Routes that use the busway are detoured through the remainder of the week and into the weekend.
Those routes include:
- G2
- G3
- G31
- 28X
- Beaver County's Route 4
Also, the detours include temporary station closings.
