SOUTH UNION TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A driver crashed into a Fayette County nursing facility Saturday afternoon.

It happened just before 4 p.m. at Lafayette Manor in South Union Township.

A woman visiting the facility got into her car and accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brakes. Her vehicle crashed through a window and ended up entirely inside the building.

"Instead of hitting the brakes, she hit the gas, [accelerated] through the grass, took out the side of the building, the window part, and the male who is a resident there was pinned against the wall by the car," South Union Township VFD Chief Rick McCormick said.

The resident and the driver were both taken to a local hospital. Both are expected to be OK.

Crews had removed the car from the building by 5 p.m. and boarded up the hole in the building. They also had to make repairs to water lines and air conditioning units that were damaged in the crash.

It is unknown if any charges will be filed.
