FARMINGTON (KDKA) - The lush landscape of the "Laurel Highlands" and a rustic riff on Frank Lloyd Wright's stylehouses the chance of a lifetime...
The Lady Luck Casino at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort offers a Disney World for adults, and like lemmings to the sea, patrons piled in for this opening day.
"Everything going fantastic, the crowds are loving it and everybody's having fun inside," says Virginia McDowell, President and C.E.O. of Isle of Capri Casinos.
"Close to home and hopefully I'll hit big!" A lady from Fairchance was trying her luck.
The Lady Luck makes it a dozen casinos in the state now, the fourth in Western Pennsylvania.
Lisa Rishel is from Markleysburg. "We always had to go to "The Rivers", to "The Meadows, to Wheeling, now it's here in our own backyard."
It also means nearly 500-jobs. 68% of the hires are from Fayette County, like restaurant hostess Lakayla Truly of Uniontown.
"It's a great opportunity - gives a lot of people a lot of jobs."
There are 30-gaming tables offering everything from Roulette to Blackjack to Let It Ride games, plus 600-slots
"Because this is brand new we have the absolute newest slot machines, says Virginia McDowell, "So whether it's Michael Jackson, or Elvis - you name it we've got it.
The Lady Luck is operated by Isle of Capri out of St. Louis, with a Category-3 license, but there are some restrictions on entrance to the casino.
You must either be a guest staying at the resort, purchase a minimum of 10-dollars in amenities at the resort, buy a $10 gift card, or get an annual casino membership.
Chuck Wortman of Fairfax, Virginia was staying at the resort.
"I was getting ready to go home I thought I'd check it out - it's fantastic."
Casinos have yet to reach the saturation point in the state, the Pennsylvania Gaming Commission says revenues overall are continuing to increase.
