La Canfora: AFC North Wide Open
PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- NFL teams are in the middle of training camps. Jason La Canfora, the NFL Insider for CBS and CBSSports.com, is taking a tour of training camps. On Wednesday in Latrobe, La Canfora told Starkey, Miller and Mueller that the AFC North is wide open.
"I think it can go any one of three ways," La Canfora said. "I do think the Browns won't be as much of an easy out, at least defensively. There's so much talent there." La Canfora added that the Browns will be aggressive on defense in the 3-4 under former Steelers assistant Ray Horton.
This will be the second season of the Steelers implementing Todd Haley's offense. La Canfora told the guys that he's a big fan of Haley.
"I like Coach Haley a lot," La Canfora said. "I thought it was a tremendous signing when they got him here. I know it shook things up, and it would take Ben out of his comfort zone, and Ben did not want to see Bruce Arians go. But change can be good, and I think it will be good." La Canfora added that he has heard that Haley and Roethlisberger are getting along better this year.
The Steelers have a younger roster than in years past. Fans have high expectations for this year's draft class, and La Canfora said a number of rookies will be able to help right away.
"I think it will prove to be a hell of a draft," La Canfora said. "I think they'll get immediate impact from three to five of these kids right away, and even more over time." La Canfora added that if David DeCastro and Mike Adams play up to expectations, then you have to look at the 2012 differently.
