Pens' Kunitz Could Return Soon
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Penguins may be close to getting some of their many injured forwards back into the lineup.
According to the Penguins' official website, Chris Kunitz participated in an optional skate Monday morning at the CONSOL Energy Center.
He will not play tonight against the Washington Capitals, but could return in time for Wednesday's game against the San Jose Sharks.
Kunitz has missed the last six games with a lower-body injury.
The Penguins are currently without the services of Sidney Crosby (concussion), Evgeni Malkin (knee surgery), Arron Asham (concussion), Eric Tangradi (concussion symptoms), Mark Letestu (knee), Dustin Jeffrey (lower-body), Nick Johnson (upper-body), Mike Comrie (hip) and Kunitz.
Two other players may be close to returning as well.
Jeffrey and Letestu participated in drills with strength and conditioning coach Mike Kadar.
