Kovalev Set To Return To Penguins
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Penguins general manager Ray Shero continues his wheeling and dealing prior to Monday's NHL trade deadline.
Former Penguin Alexei Kovalev is coming back to Pittsburgh. The rumored trade was finalized this morning.
KDKA-TV Sports is hearing the Pens are only giving up a 7th round draft pick in exchange for Kovalev.
In order for the trade to happen, Kovalev needed to drop his no-trade clause. Ironically, Kovalev is celebrating his 38th birthday today.
In 54 games with Ottawa this season, Kovalev recorded 14 goals and 13 assists.
He played with the Penguins from 1998-2003.
We'll have more reaction and details tonight on KDKA-TV Sports at 6 p.m.
