Kiski Valley Rugby Team Dedicates Win To Teammate Stabbed At Franklin Regional
SOUTH PARK (KDKA) -- Even though the Kiski Valley Titans had to play without teammate Nick Snyder, he was on everyone's mind. In fact, the team dedicated Friday night's game in South Park to Snyder.
"We played for him, and we played hard," said teammate Evan Stover. "He would have been proud for us."
"We support each other no matter what," said teammate Andrew Carson. "He's a brother to us!"
Snyder is the only member of the team from Franklin Regional, and his teammates had a tough time believing it when they learned he had been stabbed in the chest at Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville.
"Then, reality set in and the priority was getting out there to see him," said teammate JohnPaul Larko.
A group of teammates went to Children's Hospital to see Snyder. Snyder even tweeted out a picture of the group together in his hospital room.
Snyder was released from Children's on Friday, but wasn't up to attending the game.
Teammates wore wristbands with his name and chanted "Nick" after their win on the field.
The score was 39 to 17.
Coach Seth Erwin says it's been a very emotional week for the team.
"We know we've got to play for Nick," he said.
Franklin Regional student Alex Hribal is accused of stabbing students at the school on Wednesday.
