Kevin Colbert Says Steelers Draft Choices A Group Effort
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - With the NFL Draft just days away, Pittsburgh Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert joined the Starkey and Mueller Show to talk about the organization's plans for filling their needs, specifically those at cornerback and outside linebacker.
When it comes to who has the final say of which position and player the team ends up drafting, Colbert said that's a question that has been asked for ages.
"It's always been and always will be a Steelers pick," Colbert said. "As I've said, and it couldn't be more truthful, there's plenty of debate throughout the three and a half weeks meetings. If there's disagreements, then we'll hash those out and talk about them in detail. And when it really comes down to it, myself and Coach Tomlin and both Mr. Rooneys will sit down tomorrow after we have our final meeting with the coaches and scouts and pretty much when we come out of that meeting we're set and we just go through it one more time with the four of us."
Colbert also gave us his thoughts on the spectacle that the NFL Draft has become.
"I guess I'm not surprised," Colbert told us. "It's great for our game, it's great for our fans. Quite honestly, it's a little tedious for the people in the business because you can certainly do this in one day like we used to do. When I first started it was 12 rounds, you started it I believe it was noon and we finished probably 2:30 in the morning."
