Kenny Chesney Fans Pack North Shore For Concert

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- It's a huge party and the summer kick off that tens of hundreds of Pittsburghers wait for every year.

The Kenny Chesney concert at Heinz Field!

Thousands flocked to the North Shore Saturday for the country music star's "No Shoes Nation" tour. Some boats have been parked outside the stadium for weeks.

Parking lots opened Saturday at 10:30 a.m., and most highways into town were jam packed.

The North Shore was really backed up.

"It actually wasn't that bad coming in. This is actually been the worst of it so far," said Sarah Thauddin, a concert-goer, of the traffic. "Who knows what's coming up."

Fans started entering the stadium around 3:30 p.m. and the concert started earlier this evening.

Kenny Chesney took the stage around 8:30 p.m.

State police say they handed out several citations for underage drinking while patrolling the parking lots between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. According to state police, 35 minors and eight juveniles were cited for underage drinking and one person was cited for having a false ID.

There were also a few reports of heat stroke and other injuries to tailgaters.

But love was in the air at the concert for one Beaver County couple.

As they tailgated with friends, D.J. Fry got down on one knee and popped the question to his girlfriend, Sarah Ryeback.

And, of course, she said yes!

Fry is an Eric Church fan, and Ryeback is a Kenny Chesney fan.

They say it's the perfect concert for the both of them.
