KDKA's Bob Pompeani Previews Steelers-Redskins
PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) -- Steelers preseason play-by-play announcer Bob Pompeani of KDKA Sports joined the Vinnie and Cook show on Sportsradio 93-7 The Fan to discuss the Steelers' first preseason game against the Washington Redskins tonight, the unfortunate injury to rookie running back Baron Batch and what he has seen so far at training camp.
Bob thinks the time has come for Isaac Redman to get more work in the Steeler back field which will also help give Rashard Mendenhall a break from time to time. Keeping with the offense, Bob says a couple young receivers are making waves at training camp as well and might have an outside shot at being the fifth wide out.
He also gives his thoughts on the third-string quarterback competition between Charlie Batch and Dennis Dixon.
The defense doesn't seem to have as many question marks as the offense but Bob weighs in on what he'll be looking for on that side of the ball during the game. The off-season featured some re-shuffling on the offensive line, and Bob tells us what to expect in the trenches this season.
Bob leaves us with what players and story lines he'll be paying the most attention to against the Redskins.
