Kareef Easington, wanted in Swissvale double homicide, taken into custody
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The man who police said shot and killed a woman and her 7-year-old girl is finally behind bars. Alleged killer, Kareef Easington, was captured after nearly a week in Pittsburgh Sunday night.
After five days of looking for him, county police finally tracked down Easington at an intersection in Pittsburgh. This, as the people who live on the street where he allegedly committed a double murder said they can finally breathe a sigh of relief.

It's been a worrisome couple of days for the people who live on Sailor Place in Swissvale.
"I was scared to death the last couple of days," Alura Goodwine said.
"It was scary. We wanted the locks changed," Taylor Peabody added.
Wednesday of last week, Allegheny County police detectives said Kareef Easington, 35, shot and killed Megan Campbell, 39, and her 7-year-old daughter, Lyla.
"I heard it, [but] I didn't know that's what I heard," Peabody said.
Peabody was in her apartment the morning the mother and daughter were allegedly shot by Easington.
"I heard Lyla scream, and I just keep hearing it over and over in my head, that's the hardest part."
Easington's run from justice came to an end when Allegheny County police arrested him at the intersection of Seventh and Smithfield in the City of Pittsburgh. His capture is a welcome development for the victim's neighbors.
"I feel safer in the neighborhood now that he's caught," Goodwine said.
With Easington now in custody, Goodwine and Peabody said they are going to try to focus on the good things they remember about Megan Campbell and her little girl, Lyla.
"She was always up on the little balcony, laughing, saying, 'Hey guys, I'm Lyla!'" Goodwine added with a smile.
"I always heard Lyla singing. She was just upstairs being a kid," said Peabody.
Kareef Easington is in the Allegheny County Jail, facing two counts of criminal homicide and one count of tampering with evidence.
