2 Juveniles Steal Van, Crash Into Several Vehicles In McKeesport

MCKEESPORT (KDKA) - Two juveniles hit several parked cars in a stolen van in McKeesport early Thursday morning.
McKeesport police say the incident happened in the 2100 block of Jenny Lind Street in McKeesport. They say two juveniles, too young to drive, went for a joyride in a van that was reported stolen.
"About 2:30 in the morning, I heard a bang, came out and saw a van overturned, pressed up against the pole over there," said Andy Macdonald, who lives on the street.
Police say the ride didn't last long, when the van began hitting cars parked along the street. It rear-ended one car, before flipping over. A trail of broken glass, car parts and debris could be seen hours later, as people who live on Jenny Lind were preparing to go to work.
One woman, unaware of what happened overnight, didn't know where her car was.
"I just peeked out the window to see what the weather was like and realized my car wasn't in front of the house," she told KDKA's Lisa Washington.
Macdonald says his two cars parked on the street weren't damaged, though he's not surprised something like this happened in his neighborhood.
"We've had a lot of trouble on this street," he said. "There was a shooting a couple blocks down the street about a month or so ago. We've had problems on this street, it's a shame."
The juveniles in the van were taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital to be treated for their injuries.
