Judge Denies Reduced Charges For Teen Accused Of Attempted Strangling
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The teen accused of trying to kill his friend who had muscular dystrophy was held for trial Friday and will face charges as an adult, despite efforts to reduce those charges.
Allan Littlejohn, 15, broke down in tears after testifying in court Friday that his best friend asked him, "What's your last words before you die?" and then attacked him.
Littlejohn's mother was visibly upset, too.
Tonya Littlejohn: "I can't talk right now. I can't talk."
KDKA's Paul Martino: "It's very disturbing for you."
Littlejohn: "Yes it is. Yes it is. My son was gone for 24 hours. He knew what he did to him. That was his best friend."
Littlejohn sent time recovering in the intensive care unit following the July 31 attack.
Littlejohn, who suffers from muscular dystrophy, says he was choked, kicked, stabbed and left for dead in some woods near Grandview Park.
But the attorney for suspect Kenneth Murphy says this was not an attempted homicide. But rather, it was a fight between two kids.
"He is contrite. He got into a fight with his best friend of three years. That's what it was. It was a fight," said defense attorney Blaine Jones. "Did it go too far? Possibly, yes."
"I want to see justice done. I feel like he should have never did that to him," said Littlejohn's mom.
Murphy is just 15-years-old, but he's being tried as an adult.
He's being held at the Allegheny County Jail under $500,000 bond. He's being lodged with all the other adult criminal suspects.
