John Wehner: Can Pirates Play Under Pressure?
PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - The Pittsburgh Pirates get ready to host a big series at PNC Park against the St. Louis Cardinals, and Pirates broadcaster John Wehner previews it with Vinnie & Cook on Sportsradio 93.7 The Fan.
While the Pirates dropped two of three to the Milwaukee Brewers, many little things seemed to go against them. Wehner notes that those little things will need to go Pittsburgh's way for the rest of the year. "These games are so magnified," Wehner says. "Every game matters from here on out. The at-bats become more important. The baserunning becomes more important. Those little things over the course of the last 30 or so games are going to be magnified. When you play close and tight games, every pitch matters."
"That's going to be the biggest test for this team moving forward: how do we handle these pressure situations?"
Wehner also weighs in on Andrew McCutchen's failure to run hard, preventing a triple from becoming an inside-the-park home run. Hear those thoughts below!
