Joe DelSardo And His Road To Recovery
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) -- Colin Dunlap was joined by Joe DelSardo Saturday to talk about his road to recovery.
Joe was a wide receiver at Seaton-La Salle High School, and had his sights set on a scholarship and playing in the NFL.
He attended the University of Pittsburgh on scholarship, but his dreams of the NFL began to dwindle as he battled with an addiction to pain killers.
He began taking pills to aid a lingering injury.
As his addiction worsened, he moved onto heavier narcotics and eventually found himself too deep in addiction to continue his college career.
Joe sought help, and with his new found sobriety he wants to help others who suffer from addiction.
He makes public appearances telling his story and started a website to raise awareness.
