Joe Biden Wins Pennsylvania And The Presidency
PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) -- Former Vice President Joe Biden has won Pennsylvania, putting him over the top of the 270 electoral votes he needs to become the next president of the United States.
CBS News reports with 98% of the vote in, 3,339,318 Pennsylvanians voted for Joe Biden, giving him a lead of 49.6%. President Donald Trump received 49.1% of the vote, with 3,308,410 votes.
In Allegheny County, with 95% of the votes counted, Biden received 59.3% of votes and President Trump received 39.1% of votes. In total, 415,737 people voted for Biden and 274,028 people voted for President Trump.
Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald estimates more than 700,000 people in Allegheny County voted in this general election.
On Saturday, people took to the streets to celebrate Biden's victory.
At last check with the county just after 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, the Elections Division announced the results of another 7,253 votes. Of those, 5,184 votes were cast for Biden and 1,893 votes were cast for Trump.
It was around that time, news agency began calling the race for Biden.

Biden is a native son of Pennsylvania, born in Scranton, but eventually moving to Delaware. However, as the Associated Press reports, Biden has long played up the idea that he was Pennsylvania's "third senator" during his decades representing neighboring Delaware.
Democratic Sen. Bob Casey, of Pennsylvania, has released this statement congratulating Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris on their win.
"I congratulate President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on their victory in this campaign. It's now time to unite and heal our Nation so we can build back better. Coming together as one Nation, we can defeat the virus, rebuild our economy for workers and families and provide a brighter future for our children."
Republican Sen. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania also released a statement, urging people to wait until all ballots are counted:
"President Trump and former Vice President Biden have run hard, spirited campaigns that have inspired record civic engagement. I applaud both of them for their desire to serve our nation. Today's announcement by the media of the election's outcome is a projection. A final outcome will be reached when the election process concludes, which is after all legal votes have been counted, litigation is resolved, and any recounts are completed," Sen. Toomey said. "Democracy succeeds only when all sides can trust that the election process is fair and transparent. Given the extremely close result, the American people must be assured that the process is being conducted with integrity. This means campaign representatives must have meaningful access to observe whether the law is being followed. I strongly encourage all state and local officials to ensure that this happens as the election process is completed."
Biden campaigned extensively across Pennsylvania.
In fact, Biden's first campaign rally of his 2020 presidential run took place in Pittsburgh at the Teamsters Hall in Lawrenceville. That was back in April of 2019.
This fall, Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, took a train tour though Western Pennsylvania, making stops in Pittsburgh, Greensburg, New Alexandria, Latrobe and Johnstown.
Then, on Monday, he spent the day before Election Day campaigning in the Pittsburgh area with Dr. Biden and Lady Gaga.
