Jim Colony's Steelers Practice Posts
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin spent one period watching TEs/FBs v LBs ... toward the end he called for David Johnson and Jason Worilds and made them go four times. Johnson won the first two, Worilds with a slight edge on No. 3 then Worilds a clear edge on No. 4 to the vocal satisfaction of Farrior, Harrison and the other vet LBs
Team running drill--Rashard Mendenhall and Isaac Redman split time with the 1s v 1s ... Harrison blew up one play which led to a distracted Redman dropping the pitch and falling on the fumble. Redman ran hard through the line on his next try. 7th rounder Baron Batch took 2nd teams RB reps and has shined early on.
With the first team defense against a 3rd team offense, rookie OT Josh Harrison flattened a hard-rushing Lawrence Timmons pushing him down on his face. Timmons got up quickly and looked like he wanted to go after the rookie but, with the help of an assistant coach, quickly reconsidered.
Antonio Brown made a Nestea plunge catch of a Roethlisberger bomb between two defenders. Two assistant coaches and onlooking Ike Taylor and William Gay after a scrambling Roethlisberger took about eight seconds to throw the ball.
Later in a Red Zone drill, Brown dropped a Big Ben bullet which bounced up into the hands of Larry Foote. Although there was an absence of onrushing gunners, Brown looked extremely quick returning punts.
