Jewelry Store Thieves Arrested At Mercer Co. Applebee's

HERMITAGE (KDKA) – Two men were arrested at a Mercer County restaurant after allegedly robbing a jewelry store.

The suspects have been identified as Anthony D. Jacobs, 23, and Terrance L. Jackson, 40, both of Columbus, Ohio.

According to police, Jackson and Jacobs were wanted in connection with an armed robbery at King's Jewelry at the Shenango Valley Mall Monday afternoon.

"The actors had went in and asked to see some jewelry," Hermitage Police Chief Patrick McElhinny said. "The employee placed it on a counter for them to see it. They displayed the handgun and then stole the jewelry."

Jackson ran into an Applebee's in Hermitage in an attempt to escape from police.

"And he has a canvas bag of money and just went straight into the men's restroom," Andriane Pawluk, a server at Applebee's said.

The restaurant was evacuated by police and no patrons or employees were injured. There was no way out, but Jackson didn't want to surrender.

"He refused to come out, refused to acknowledge that he was in there," McElhinny said.

The SWAT team used pepper spray and a dog. Jackson was eventually taken out of the restaurant.

Meanwhile, Jacobs jumped into a dumpster.

"And about 10 minutes later, the cop was over here getting the guy out of this dumpster," Nikki Stevenson, a server at Bob Evans, said.

"The officer that went in and got him is not too happy," McElhinny added.

Police recovered the stolen merchandise.
