1 Person Hospitalized, 3 Teens In Custody After Jeannette Home Invasion
JEANNETTE (KDKA) -- Three teenagers are in custody and one person has been hospitalized after an early morning home invasion in Westmoreland County.
According to emergency officials, it all started just before 4 a.m. along South 5th Street in Jeannette.
A large police presence responded to a home there, they used yellow tape to cordon off the scene and officers' cruisers lined the street. Outside the Jeannette Police station, friends and family gathered, waiting for word about the investigation.
Police took three teens into custody, an 18-year-old, a 17-year-old and and 15-year-old, in connection with the incident. They are accused of breaking into the home and robbing the person who lived inside.
All three are facing charges of burglary, robbery and aggravated assault.
The victim, a 31-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Officials say his injuries are not life threatening.
Just what was taken, police aren't saying, but they do confirm the house was the target. They say they believe the incident was not a random act.
A neighbor, William Dean, says he is not surprised.
"This street needs a lot of cleaning up. The house where they are at, it has more traffic going in and out of that house than Route 30," said Dean.
Police were inside the home for several hours investigating this morning.
Jeannette Police and Westmoreland County detectives are continuing to investigate.
