Jay Caufield Thinks We'll See 'A Man Possessed' Tonight
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) -- ROOT Sports and KDKA-TV Penguins analyst Jay Caufield joined The Fan Morning Show on Wednesday with the Pens trailing the Bruins 2-0 in the Eastern Conference Final.
Caufield thinks the Pens can improve in a variety of areas, but that their effort and strategy will be especially key going forward.
"Each player individually can just, number one, look at their effort," Caufield said. "Boston made their adjustments before they played Pittsburgh, and Pittsburgh needs to adjust to what Boston's trying to do to them. So it's a mix of everything. If they come up with a good game plan, and the guys play the game extremely hard, then you have things taken care of, because the talent level in that room is enough."
Caufield expects Sidney Crosby to bounce back, because a player of his caliber tends to step things up when facing an unusually feisty defense.
"I think that type of player turns things on," Caufield said. "There's a lot of frustration that goes and gets involved when you're blanketed all the time. They're running that play, he's swinging wide, somebody's always with you. So yeah, frustration comes into play, and I would really [think] that he would come out like a man possessed."
When it comes to selecting their netminder, Caufield thinks the Pens need to let their gut feeling dictate their choice of starter, given how unusual their current goaltending situation is.
Game 3 gets underway at 8 p.m. on Wednesday in Boston.
