Jared Jones expected to miss significant time and start season on injured list
Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Jared Jones is expected to start the upcoming season on the injured list and miss a significant amount of time, a new report says.
Jones missed his last spring training start last week due to elbow discomfort but it appears he will be able to recover from his injury without requiring surgery.
According to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reporter Noah Hiles, Jones hasn't suffered any ligament damage but will need to go six weeks without throwing.
Last week, Todd Tomczyk, the team's senior director of sports medicine, told reporters the team was currently awaiting a second opinion.
Tomczyk is expected to provide an update on Wednesday afternoon about Jones' status.
The Pirates will get their season underway on Thursday when they face the Marlins on the road in Miami.
