Jamie Dixon Talks Move To ACC, Schedule Release
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - With the schedule being released today, Pitt hoops head coach Jamie Dixon joined Starkey, Miller and Mueller to talk about his team's new conference and how the change may impact them.
"I don't think you can put a single term to any way, style of play in a conference," said Dixon. "It's different in some ways, but again, it's seven former Big East teams are going to be of the 15 in the ACC. I'd say it's a merger in a lot of ways."
Dixon also discussed how the conference change has impacted his recruiting.
"It's geography, generally kids want to play where they're from," he said. "If they got a good opportunity, they're going to stay close to home. That's been proven, that's what kids want to do. But they also want to play in the region that they've grown up watching. And so obviously, this is going to extend a little bit down to the south east."
Dixon also discussed Butler head coach Brad Stevens going to the NBA, if he has ever been offered an NBA job and what he makes of the landing spot for Steven Adams as he was drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder.
