James Franklin Continues To Beef Up Recruiting Classes
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - New Penn State head coach James Franklin made it known right away that he wanted to "dominate the state" when it came to recruiting.
However, Franklin has been all over the map taking some top recruits from other states as well.
As Tom Fornelli of CBSSports.com writes, Franklin recently got two big commitments from four-star offensive lineman Steven Gonzalez out of New Jersey, and four-star linebacker Josh Barajas from Indiana, giving him 11 commitments for the 2015 class
Some scouting services have Barajas ranked as the No. 1 overall recruit in the state of Indiana for 2015 and the No. 2 inside linebacker nationally.
Making these latest two commitments even more impressive is the fact that they lured Gonzalez away from Ohio State and Barajas away from his in-state team, Notre Dame.
Given that Penn State is still dealing with the NCAA sanctions put upon them from the Jerry Sandusky scandal, the job Franklin is doing only serves to impress those keeping an eye on his first year in Happy Valley.
Stay tuned to 93-7 The FAN for all the latest on James Franklin and his first year as the Head Coach of the Nittany Lions.
