'Jagoff' Officially Added To The Oxford English Dictionary
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Good news western Pennsylvania! One of our most beloved terms has officially been recognized by The Oxford English Dictionary.
"Jagoff," is officially defined as: "(chiefly in western Pennsylvania) a stupid, irritating, or contemptible person."
The entry goes on to explain the origin of the word, as "from jackoff, perhaps influenced by jag."

A couple of years ago, a petition was circulating online in an attempt to get "jagoff" added to the Webster's Dictionary.
"The Pittsburghese word 'jagoff' has a legacy and it's not in the dictionary and as well all know it it's not anything bad," petition creator John Chamberlin explained to NewsRadio 1020 KDKA's Bill Rehkopf.
Breathe it in everybody, we've really made it.
