Izzo Rooting For Michigan
By: Mike Stone
While many Michigan State fans would never dream of wanting their rival Wolverines to advance in the NCAA basketball tournament, Spartan head coach Tom Izzo will be doing just that. He was asked by the Stoney and Bill show Wednesday if he will be rooting for the Maize and Blue, "I am. I really am. I am never going to like my rival, but I decided watching SEC football in recruiting and everything else to change. I have great respect for John Beilein and what he has done at Michigan, but just as important our conference even this year as good as it was always takes a beating and I am tired of it."
Izzo has tightened up the reins a bit on his team this tournament run, banning cell phone use during team functions such as bus rides and meetings, "I was amazed how much fun it was just actually watching the players talk, It made me realize how screwed up this country is with cell phones which we kind of condone"
Izzo also touched on the ability of Gary Harris, the Derrick Nix-Keith Appling towel incident, and Friday's game with Duke. The entire interview can be heard below.
