Is Sunday's Game A Chance To Get Steelers Tickets On The Cheap?

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Normally, they're some of the toughest tickets in town.

Fans wait generations to get their hands on Steelers tickets, but with no playoff berth in sight, this Sunday's game provides a rare opportunity to get a cheap seat inside Heinz Field.

It's the last Steelers game of the season for a team that will not be in the playoffs.

Used to sell-outs, hundreds of tickets are available for Sunday's game on Craigslist, Good Seat Tickets and Stub Hub.

Jerry Dorsch and his family are season ticket holders, but they won't be there.

"I'm a big fan," says the North Side resident. "It's kind of sad at this point that you don't really want to go and see them limp, you know, limp to the end of the season."

At first, he thought he'd give away the tickets.

"I was actually thinking of giving them as a Christmas gift, but I couldn't think of anyone who would really want them."

So now he's selling his $77 seats high up in Section 532.

It is a meaningless game, and it is against the Cleveland Browns, and the weather is going to be cold, a typical Pittsburgh winter day, but it is the Pittsburgh Steelers.

So how much would you pay for a ticket to this Sunday's game?

"For free, I'd consider it. It's still a little bit of effort to get over there, deal with the traffic," said Jamisen Etzel of Oakland.

"Not much," added Bruce Carlson of Sewickley, laughing. "I'm apathetic at this point."

"To sit in the freezing cold, 20 bucks per ticket," said Doreen Adams of Mt. Lebanon.

Stub Hub told KDKA Money Editor Jon Delano that they actually sold a Steelers-Brown ticket for $20, although the lowest price now is $49.

One out-of-town visitor from Oklahoma said he'd pay a $100 for a ticket.

"It always means something to watch the Steelers play. It means something," insisted Carl DePaula from Tahlequah, Okla.

Meaningful or not, it's a good time for real fans to get tickets -- like Jesse Streeter of Mt. Washington who bought tickets from friends of friends at face value.

Delano: "Are you looking forward to the game?"

Streeter: "I am. I love going. So I'll always go, win or lose."
