Is A Youth Hockey Ban On Checking Coming?
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - As Sidney Crosby continues his rehabilitation from a concussion he suffered earlier this year, word out of Canada is that a body-checking could be banned in youth hockey.
KDKA Radio's Mike Pintek talked with Dr. Syd Johnson from Dalhousie Unviversity in Halifax, Nova Scotia about the issue.
Dr. Johnson talks about about her recently published studies in the Canadian Medical Association Journal on the topic.
Dr. Johnson recommends no body-checking during youth hockey in most cases until the age of 16.
