Investigation Into Homewood Shooting Continues

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Gunshots have become as commonplace as ringing the doorbell, and often times innocent people are caught in the gunfire.

When as many as 25 shots were fired from a high-powered rifle Tuesday night in Homewood on Brushton Avenue, one of those bullets ended up lodged in the wall of a woman's bedroom.

She had been watching television with her children in another part if the house.

No one was hurt, but outside her door, 21-year-old Dayon Shelton was shot once in the chest and is in critical condition at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.

According to police, Shelton was the target.

KDKA's Brenda Waters found out this is not the first time Shelton has been a target. Exactly two months ago on Sept. 7, he was shot twice in a drive-by at Washington Boulevard and Frankstown Avenue.

Shelton also has a criminal record and is awaiting trial on numerous charges including robbery, assault, kidnapping and firearms violations.

No arrests have been made yet, and Pittsburgh Police ask if you know something about Tuesday night's shooting to give Homicide Detectives a call at 412-323-7161.
